Like many of you, these chaotic and uncertain times have definitely caused my anxiety to spike. Uncertainty is a scary thing, especially when it involves your health.
I’ve been trying to spend more time focusing on the things that I can control than the things I can’t. Doing things like making your bed, getting plenty of sleep, checking in with loved ones and trying to stick to a healthy routine (especially if you’re now working from home) goes a long way.
Reading has always been a big part of my self care. I put together this list of books with some reads I recommend reaching for to help quell your anxiety, distract you for a bit, and maybe get you to stop compulsively checking Twitter.
The bookclub pick
It was time to choose our March read, and it seemed like a good time to throw a fun, raunchy romance into the mix. We’ll be reading The Idea of You by Robinne Lee over the next few weeks. You should join us!
Fantastic worlds
If you really want to escape, a bit of magic should do the trick, right? These fantasy and sci-fi reads should provide a few hours of escape and have you believing that fantastic things are possible.
A Darker Shade of Magic by VE Schwab
Vicious and Vengeful by VE Schwab
Every Heart a Doorway by Shenan McGuire (I recommend the entire Wayward Children’s series! It’s short and so good).
Graceling by Kristin Cashore
Nevermoore: The Trials of Morgan Crow by Jessica Townsend
Ruined by Amy Tintera
The Thousandth Floor by Katherine McGee
Fun RomComs
People seriously underestimate romcoms as a power genre! Humans love, love! Many of us are intrigued by and desire romance. We suspend our disbelief for the sake of watching two people dramatically wind their way towards love. A good love story that will make you laugh and cry a few happy tears, goes a long way!
The Proposal by Jasmine Guillory
Intercepted by Alexa Martin
I’ve Got Your Number by Sophie Kinsella
Dating You Hating You by Christina Lauren
Get a Life Chloe Brown by Talia Hibbert
The Right Swipe by Alisha Rai
Nostalgic Throw Backs
Taking it back to middle or even elementary school! Never underestimate the power of a nostalgic read (or film, if it’s been adapted!). Here are some of my favorites:
The Clique Series by Lisi Harrison
Angus, Thongs and Full Frontal Snogging by Lousie Rennison
The Harry Potter Series by JK Rowling
A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snickett
Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein
Esperanza’s Rising by Pam Muñoz Ryan

Love your decor- particularly the pillow and chair, can you share where they are from?
Thank you! The chair is from Wayfair and the pillow was made by a friend of mine!
