Choosing a favorite coffee shop in Paris is not easy. Sitting in a cozy Parisian cafe and enjoying a flat white or cafe latte is probably one of my favorite things to do in the city! The people watching is great and the espresso is some of the best I’ve had. And I drink a lot of espresso!

Before jumping into my favorite cafes, let’s talk about ordering coffee in France, which is a little different than your go-to stateside order.

Ordering coffee in Paris

Espresso is the default, so if you walk into a coffee shop or sit down at a restaurant to order caféyou’ll be served a small espresso. A noisette is a cafe with just a drop of milk in it, which helps take away a bit of the bitterness of the espresso. And a café créme or cafe au lait is espresso with warm, steamed milk –your typical latte.

If you’re looking for your standard drip coffee, order filtré OR café Américan (but honestly, just opt for some good espresso!).

Okay, now onto where to go!

My favorite Coffee Shops in Paris:

5 Pailles
79 Rue du Faubourg Saint-Denis 75010 Paris France

This cafe was a short walk from our AirBNB on my last visit to Paris. The staff was super friendly and patient with us, especially given the language barrier! The flat white I had was delicious! The front of the cafe was a bit small and tight but there is seating in the back, where you can also stay for all day brunch.

Café Kitsuné
Various locations

If you’ve ever searched for coffee shops in Paris on Instagram, this has probably popped up! I knew I wanted to pop into one of the Café Kitsuné shops during my visit. Neither the coffee or the atmosphere disappointed! I stopped into the location in Tuilleres but next time, I want to pop into the original cafe at Palais Royal.

Peonies Coffee & Flowers
81 Rue du Faubourg Saint-Denis, 75010 Paris, France

This adorable cafe is pretty much an Instagram dream. Luckily, the coffee is great too. They serve up in house orders in these cute little handmade mugs, which are also available for purchase. In addition to coffee, you can also grab a bouquet of fresh flowers while you’re there, or take a workshop at their studio a few doors down. If you need a meat-free bite, they also have a vegetarian cafe menu.

Cuiller
85 Rue Montmartre, 75002 Paris, France

I spent hours in this cafe on my first trip to Paris writing, people watching and relaxing (after I’d been walking for a few hours). It’s super quiet and relaxed, definitely where you bring a book over bringing a laptop to do some work.

Oni Coffee Shop
10 Boulevard Saint-Martin, 75010 Paris, France

If you watched my first Paris vlog series, you know I loved everything about Oni. They also have a pretty impressive brunch menu, and everyones food looked amazing. The pastries are super fresh and delicious (duh, Paris) and the cafe au lait is *chef’s kiss* excellent.

Bon Café!

Two trips down, and I know I’ve barely scratched the service of the best coffee that Paris has to offer. I’m hoping to make it back either later this year or early next, and I’m already making a list of cafes to check out!

Tell me what your go-to coffee order is in the comments!

  1. We haven’t been to Paris, but it’s on my bucket list of places I’d love to visit! I’ll have to try some of these coffee shops if we ever make it that way because everything looks incredible!
