Goals / June 2014Hi, friends! Can you believe that we are already halfway through 2014? I feel like the year just started! But, I am glad that summer is here.

Last month, I set three simple goals to focus on during the month: step outside of my comfort zones, spend more time with friends, and find some work/life balance. I’m pleased to say that I achieved 3/3, yipee!

This month, I’m not focusing on many things, but the goals that I have set are definitely large impact creators.

June: A Focus on Routine & Intention

  • Practice everyday intention. For the past few weeks, keeping up with a consistent routine and encouraging positive habits has been a bit difficult. Part of me thinks it has to do with being in a temporary apartment -nothing seems permanent enough to sustain productivity. This month, I want to do all things with intention, remembering why I’m doing things in the first place.
  • Focus. Summertime is one of those brief seasons where things slow down a bit for me. I want to take advantage of the season to really focus on things that slip past me. Especially, finding the time to pick up a few books and let my imagination wander.
  • Save. While I’m slowed down and focusing, I really want to start saving up little bits at a time. Time is moving so quickly, and soon it will be time to invest in some of my larger dreams.

That’s it for me, what are your goals for the month? Did you set any goals last month that you are still working to achieve?

  1. I dig the goal to do things with intentions because there are times when I get so busy that I seem to forget why I am doing them in the first place. So it’s nice to stop and get back in the zone with it all. Hope this month treats you well.

I am still working on a self-improvement goal + to finally order some new business cards. I am hoping to get them done asap.

  2. I’m right there with you on the intentions. I feel like this links back to what you were talking about a few weeks ago – the ‘touch it once’ concept? I’ve been doing my best to practice that lately and dang, it’s hard! Definitely something I’d like to improve upon in the coming months. I feel as though summer always means “long term projects” in my book, and they just keep popping up.

    1. This is EXACTLY what touch it once was all about!! It is extremely hard, especially when the “I’ll do it later” mentality comes so naturally (hence why I’m responding to the comment NINE days later!)

Summer can very well mean long term projects, but the key to getting those projects done is to set SHORTER term deadlines. Always be working, always be active. Don’t allow projects to sit dormant too long, decide to act on them or let them go. That will give those other projects less room to pop up!

      1. Haha, don’t feel bad – I’ve been gone all weekend and have been SO behind!!!
You’re so right. I just have things on my to-do list that are “write a book” and “exercise every day” – uhhh, hello?! Not even a little bit possible. I think I’m really going to rexamine my summer goals and be EXACT about what I want from this summer. Thanks for the great inspiration, as always!

  3. I need to start doing monthly goals too! One of the things I would like to do in June is save. Having a first real job and having all that money while being in your early twenties is hard. lol I need to control myself and stop wasting money on material things that I don’t use. So saving money should be at the top of my list. haha
