June was a busy month for me, but I still managed to finish two books that I really enjoyed.
It’s always hard to get reading done when work and life amp up a bit, but I’m always grateful to come home to a good read after a long day. Even when I’m exhausted and can only get through a few pages (I woke up with a book on my face and a bookmark stuck to my leg or thigh so many times last month).
There’s something about escaping to a different world for a chapter or two that help’s to slow my mind down and get me out of my head a bit. Hence my love for fiction reads –especially urban fantasies!
Here’s what I read last month:
FanGirl by Rainbow Rowell
One of my favorite books of all time, Eleanor & Park, is by Rainbow Rowell, and I think I want to read everything she’s written. So far I’ve enjoyed everything I’ve read by her, and this was no different. As a reader with a deep love of some series, Harry Potter for instance, I could related to our main character Cath, as she lost and found herself in a world of fiction. I already own the companion novel, Carry On, but I’m not sure when I’ll reach for it.
The Rose & The Dagger by Renee Adieh
I read the first book in this duology last month and have never ran to Barnes & Noble to pick up a sequel faster! I love the female characters in this book, the writing style and the plot definitely moved at a good pace. I feel like we got a much better understanding of the world and magic systems that are introduced in the first book. There were some scenes that literally made me YELL on my couch, so prepare yourself! I definitely recommend this series!
That’s a wrap for last month’s reading. What books did you read last month? Did you love them, hate them, would you recommend? What are you reading in July?
My goal for July is to catch up on some of my book of the month picks that I’ve pushed aside and to finish Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.
I always feel good after reading Rainbow Rowell! // I haven’t read fantasy in a long time. // In June I re-read two childhood favourites, and also a few more new books. My favourite of the month was How to Fall in Love with Anyone by Mandy Len Catron 🙂 -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey’s
