When I’m getting work done these days (or at least attempting to) I’ve been reaching for podcasts over playlists these days. Whether they’re talking politics or Harry Potter, they help me get through the workday faster and keep me entertained through the day.

And is it just me, or does someone start a new podcast almost every week? Which wouldn’t be a problem, if they weren’t all so good! How is every new podcast a must-listen?!

I sometimes struggle with getting through all of my favorites, and definitely have weeks where I just catch up on one and skip new episodes of all of the others. Compared to this time last year, my podcast library has at least doubled, if not tripled.

Here are six that I can’t stop listening to at the moment. Let me know if any of these sound up your alley or are already in your current rotation. And if they aren’t, tell me what you’re listening to in the comments!

Pod Save America

I’ve been following the Crooked Media crew since their Keepin’ it 1600 days. I typically listen to new episodes in the morning to get a few laughs and catch up on the shenanigans happening in our government.

NPR Politics

Another daily dose of politics, with less of a comedic relief than Pod Save America. The NPR crew does a great job of giving the facts with context to help really make sense of everything happening in government and the world.

Wizard Team

This podcast is probably my favorite nerdy guilty pleasure. If you’re a fan of Harry Potter (who isn’t?!) and wish you had someone to nerd out with over every minor wizarding detail, start here. Especially if you’re a potterhead of color. The hosts dive into the wizarding world chapter by chapter and it’s my favorite part of the week.

UnHappy Hour

If you were a fan of Matt Bellassai’s Wine About It series on YouTube, you will love this podcast! While it’s slightly less boozy, it’s the same Matt Bellassai that we’ve come to love ranting and raving on what’s happening in the world. If the news gets you down and you need to be a bit less serious, put this on.

What Should I Read Next

Are you shocked that I’m a fan of bookish podcasts? This one is definitely a major favorite. Our hosts brings a guest on every week and asks them three books they love and three that they hate. From there, as you could guess from the title, she recommends what they should read next.

Getting Grown

Jade and Keia have become big sisters in my head ever since they launched this podcast. As a twenty something who’s made enough questionable decisions to last until well into my thirties, I appreciate every bit of advice, word of wisdom and hilarious story this duo shares. I get something out of every episode and am guaranteed a laugh with every listen.
