What a week…but I’ve been saying that every week since around March 20th.
This was one of those weeks where I struggled to focus and push through my to do lists but still didn’t get enough done. I know it’s been months at this point, but I think the reality of how little focus, motivation and energy I (and all of us) have had during quarantine is finally sinking in. Not to mention, June has been a very heavy month for Black people across the country.
There’s a lot going on in my brain lately and balancing it all with the mill tasks and ideas fighting for space has been tough. I talked about this a bit on Instagram.
This weekend, I decided to focus less on getting it all done and more on just resting, healing my very sore back (if you follow me on Instagram, you know the falling down the stairs story well). I hope you found some time to rest and recoup this weekend, too.
Links I Loved…
+ The memification of Breonna Taylor. Please watch this video and consider how the way we consume heavy topics challenges the way we react and inform ourselves to truly tackle them.
+ This piece on how violence against Black women has become normalized said everything I’ve been struggling to find the words to say.
+ Are you wondering what it actually means to defund the police? Our favorite ice cream makers have you covered with a breakdown.
+ Adding this thoughtful braindump into my morning prayer, journaling and devotional routine.
+ I miss my in person therapy sessions so much and loved this collection of best advice from therapists.
+ Will we ever get over our desire to be perfect? Ehh, hopefully? For now, let’s forgive ourselves daily.
+ I loved Nat’s tips on making your home workspace more creative. How many of you are still working from home?
+ If you’re in a reading slump and don’t know what to grab, take a look at Rory Gilmore’s reading list, broken down by season!
Happy Sunday, xo!
I feel like this post was incredibly well-timed so thank you. I most appreciate the link to the best therapist advice article – that was nothing but eye-opening and helpful in a so-I-guess-it-is-normal-to-feel-this-way-about-things.
