Fall Reading Recommendations

Nothing makes you want to cozy up in bed with a hot beverage and good book more than crisp, chilly Fall weather. It’s one of the reasons that Fall is my favorite season (and when I tend to read the most).

There are a lot of books I’m excited to get into this month, and September was a great month for new releases. So my shelves aren’t short on books to pull. But today, I wanted to share some titles that would be great for snuggling up with this Fall for anyone still looking for some seasonal recommendations.

In the Summer, I’m all about reading romance but Fall and Winter lend themselves to some darker reads and mysteries. Still, there’s a mix of lighter and darker reads here, with some YA and some Adult titles so hopefully there’s something for everyone.

Also, a few of these reads are some of my favorite books of all time. So, here we go.

Harry Potter Series by J.K. Rowling

This one needs no introduction, I’m sure. If you’re looking for impactful friendships, a bit of dark magic and a series you won’t put down until the very end, pick up HP. You won’t regret it.

Three Dark Crowns Series by Kendare Blake

This YA fantasy series is dark, addictive and thrilling. The second book was just released last month. Three triplets are born every other generation, each with their own magical power. Only one can become the true queen, and the three use their powers to battle to the death and claim their throne.

Shades of Magic Trilogy by V.E. Schwab

If you’re looking for magic, a bit of darkness and characters you will fall in love with and root for until the end, pick up this series. We follow Kell, a magician of sorts, who is one of the last of people who have the ability to travel through parallel versions of London. Each London has different levels of magic available. The story will capture you and keep you up all night reading.

Lillian Boxfish Takes a Walk by Kathleen Rooney

This book is a shorter read, perfect for a cozy day on the couch. We follow 85 year old Lillian Boxfish as she walks through New York City on New Year’s Eve. She takes us to the past into her life as an NYC dweller, wife and advertising mogul and then to present day, where so much has changed. This book is charming and the writing is spectacular.

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

I cannot say enough good things about this book. I definitely plan to reread it this year. This story is about more than a circus, more than a romance, and more than a bit of magic. It’s all of those things combined into a wonderful, beautifully written completely enthralling story. You won’t want to put it down and when you do, you’ll pick it back up again.

One of Us is Lying by Karen McManus

This is the only title on this list I haven’t read yet but it’s up next on my to read list. One of Us Is Lying is the story of what happens when five strangers walk into detention and only four walk out alive. Everyone is a suspect, and everyone has something to hide. I’ve heard good things about this one and I can’t wait to dive in.

Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell

This book was one of the first to ever make me cry. One of those books that really stuck with me over the years. It’s a teenage love story with none of the cliches and boring tropes your used to. Rainbow Rowell does a great job of creating characters that you feel with, and want the best for.
