I’m super excited (and very nervous) to finally be launching a Patreon community today!
The decision to build a community on Patreon is one I’ve been overthinking for a while, and finally took the plunge on after some much appreciated encouragement from other creators. I’m excited for the chance to build more, to invest more in my content and brand and continue to get creative in the ways that I connect with the people who’ve already supported me in so many ways.
Any time there is a big change to my content or online platforms, I like to approach them with as much transparency and honesty as possible. It’s important to me that, to the extent that it makes sense, you all understand why I’m making certain choices and what those choices mean for you in the long term.
So, here’s everything you need to know about the Patreon community, and what it means for you and the content I create!
How does Patreon even work?
It’s very simple and easy on your end! There are 4 membership tiers available at different price points, all under $10. Each tier is charged monthly and gives you access to certain perks or rewards. The proceeds from Patreon support the work I’m doing here on the blog, Instagram, YouTube and the podcast! Obviously life changes, so you can cancel, upgrade or downgrade your subscription on Patreon at any time!
So, is all the free stuff going behind a paywall?
No! It was important to me to create new, separate perks for the Patreon community! Things I’ve created (vlogs, book recs, journal prompts) and shared with you all freely will still be available. The Patreon Community simply has the opportunity to support this work financially, and get more exclusive content that is an extension of a lot of this work.
Why should I join?
I love connecting with you all on Instagram and YouTube but let’s be real: the algorithm is gonna continue to algorithm. Instagram isn’t going to show you everything I post. And on Platforms where growth happens faster, it’s harder to engage with everyone on the level I’d like to. Patreon ensures you see 100% of the content you opt into and provides deeper means of engagement. Plus, if you think the work I do is great and want to help me continue you to do it, it’s super beneficial to support this work financially.
I can’t afford to join the community, how can I still support?
There is zero pressure to join the Patreon! We are all still living in a personal pan pizza and I get that not everyone can afford another financial obligation. Here are some free ways you can continue to support my work!
- SHARE SHARE SHARE: A video, a blog post, my profiles, my content (especially sponsored content). A share goes a long way.
- Authentically engage with the free content I post, especially sponsored content.
- Shop using my affiliate links.
- Subscribe, rate and review the podcast in Apple Podcasts! This helps us get discovered by more listeners!
If you have more questions, we can chat in the comments or feel free to shoot me an email!
I actually found your blog today in Carissa’s showcase. She designed both our blogs and I am always curious to see others she did, I already follow you on Instagram too 🙂 Patreon makes a lot of sense, so far I personally have shied away from creating there but I do get why it is the primary choice for creators over a blog.
