October Goals + Thoughts On Moving ForwardI hope you don’t mind, but this monthly goal setting post is a little unlike previous posts. I don’t know if it’s the change of seasons or the major change in routine I’ve had, but I’ve been itching for a little more change, much more action and a lot more life these past weeks.

See, when I rebranded E&M, I accomplished something I’d never done before, but always wanted. I create a space prepped for longevity. Finally, I had a some with some sense of stability, because I had placed in it everything I loved.

The first three months (can you believe it’s only been three months?!) have been pure bliss. Incredible, unexplainable bliss. I’ve been amazed at the growth I’ve seen, and the chances for growth on the horizon keep me daring and jumping for more.

I’m excited.

But in the midst of growing, and filling this space with things I love and represent my values, I forgot to place one very special thing inside….

Myself.

Does this brand represent me fully? Oh, yes yes yes! Am I always fully here, within the posts, on the scene rather than just behind them? No, not so much.

I believe in every post I’ve published, all the content I’ve created is authentic to what I think matters. But I’ll admit, sometimes coming here has felt a bit mechanical, and I’m ready to lose that feeling. I want readers to not only connect with what I’m saying, but also feel a connection to the girl who’s saying everything!

In this week’s newsletter, I spoke about celebrating the blessings in your life, and try to practice being a blessing in other’s lives. I was sitting at my desk, making a note full of all of the rainbows, or blessings, in my life. One thought that came almost instantly was the people who read Ember & March! Those of you who take the time to comment, to share my posts, to open up the newsletter and read even more of what I have to say, you all are a blessing to me, and I appreciate all of you. Beyond my gratitude, I want to establish a connection with you all so that I can know you more, help you more and grow this space even more!

That’s my goal for October, to fully infuse more of me into this space.

The next steps in this journey are so exciting, and I can’t wait to give you all more peeks into who I am. In the meantime, tell me more about you! Introduce (or re-introduce) yourself in the comments. Tell me who you are, what you do, and if you blog, please share a link!

I’m Amber, nice to meet you all…. again.

  1. hi, amber! i’m amber. 🙂 i blog here: http://www.undertheoklahomasky.com/

i found your blog when i was researching a possible rebrand for my blog. reading your ‘five tips for a smooth rebrand’ was so helpful in the decision-making process! [my new site will be ready in a couple months!]

thank you for writing today’s post. the whole ‘mechanical feeling’ rings true for me as well. with the new space, i plan to infuse more of myself into my writings and photographs instead of blogging about what i think people and my readers want.

thank you for being an inspiration! have a great day!

    1. Hi Amber 🙂 Nice to meet you!!

I’m really glad that the rebranding post was happy, and I can’t wait to see what you’ve put together for the new blog. I love the double exposure feature in your current sidebar photo!

  2. Hi Amber! I’m Liz! I find it funny that you are feeling EXACTLY what I’ve been feeling these last few weeks. I haven’t finished the post (dang job gets in the way every time), but I too, have been craving more LIFE these last few weeks. October is going to be a month of living for me, which is hilarious, considering most associate it with dying things. Anyways, love your blog and posts. Good luck this month!

    1. Hi Liz, nice to meet ya! I’m really glad that I’m not alone in how I’m feeling. I know life and work can get the better of us, but I hope you find time to add a bit more life to your online world as well 🙂

  3. Hi Amber! I just found your blog not too long ago. I was looking into creating my morning routine and found your Route 101 series. I adore your blog and always enjoy your writing!

I don’t currently have a blog, the thought has crossed my mind, but maybe in the future! I’m looking forward to more posts!

    1. Hi Amy! Thanks for commenting. I’m so glad that you’ve been enjoying posts here, and I hope Route 101 was helpful in creating your routines!

  4. Good goal. One of my favorite thing about reading blogs is getting to know the authors. I sometimes find mine a little ‘impersonal’ and that’s something I want to change as well

    1. It’s hard as a blogger to find the balance between openess and over share, at least for me. It’s a constant balancing act, and I think I’m ready for a bit more 🙂

  5. That’s a great goal – your posts are fabulous, but they’re so professional! It would be nice to get to know the real you too.

Recently went through a brand overhaul and tomorrow I’ll be unveiling a new logo. i love your June goal. Blogging can definitely become mechanical. We will always have “off” days.
