When I first read the prompt for this month’s B Bar linkup, I instantly thought I’d be passing on contributing a post this go-round. Hidden talents? Me? No way.

I like to think I’m a pretty what you see is what you get kind of girl, awkward tendencies and all. But when I actually took a moment to think about what it really means to have a hidden talent, I realized that I definitely possess some traits that you wouldn’t know existed beneath the surface. Things that, from where I’m standing, are defining features of myself.

I bet if you stopped to think of it, you’d determine that you too possess beyond skin deep talents that no one else knows about. If so, please, do tell!

As for myself, the first thing that comes to mind is my intuition. I say intuition, honestly, not because I’m certain that’s what it is, but rather because I’m not sure what else I would call it. I’m not big on astronomy, but some things I’ve come accross claim that it’s the pisces in me (as they tend to have psychic traits/inclinations).

I like to think that I’m just very in tune with myself; that my flight vs fight sense tries to pick up on potential threats before I’d even have to make a decision. This feeling comes the strongest when I get a premonition (that almost always manifests itself) or an intense case of deja vu. I’m a really vivid dreamer, and it’s not rare to have bits and pieces of my dreams play out in real life.

I’ve always tried to use this simple gift to my advantage. Especially when letting new people into my life. I can usually get a good feel for when someone is going to be beneficial, or when I should keep them at bay. Imagine walking into a meeting and knowing within moments, before even digging into the details, if this situation was going to be good.

This may seem like such a small thing, and maybe it doesn’t even seem very unique, but it’s all in how you leverage it. How do you use the small gifts that no one else may notice to better the way you live and take advantage of opportunities? Please share in the comments, I’d love to hear!

  1. Amazing! This is such an interesting hidden talent. I’ve always wished I had more intuition or awareness. I have some, but not nearly as deep as yours seem to be!

  2. Being so in tune with oneself is a hard thing to achieve. That’s awesome! And it’s so important in life. I’ve had some deja vu but never a premonition that manifested itself. So neat!

  3. i love this one! i definitely like to think i possess it a little myself.. or at least what i call ‘a good judge of character’ …. and awesome (hopefully) that you have a lot of vivid dreams – i hardly ever remember any!

  4. That’s such a great gift to have! It’s fantastic that you not only have an intuition you can depend on, but that you have the courage to listen to it as well. It can be easy to brush off those fight or flight reactions, but understanding what feels right and what doesn’t is so important.
