Happy third day of March everyone! I can’t believe that we’re already into the third month of the year. I feel like I just watched the ball drop yesterday.

A fresh month sets the perfect mood for goal setting and fresh starts. March is absolutely my favorite month, and I’m so excited to see what the next few weeks bring for me.

There are a few things I always try to do when I’m ushering in a new month. Starting off strong is a great indication of an even stronger ending. Take the time to prepare and get your bearings together. Leave all of the old and heavy things from weeks before behind; the goal that you haven’t met, the faux paus that happened publicly and privately.

Allow yourself to walk freely and unhindered into a new clean and fresh space. Declutter your mind, and start to progress in the new.

01/ Assess Your Progress

Look at yourself now, and note changes (or lack thereof) from the month prior. Celebrate all of the successes you had, no matter how big or how small. Everything is incredibly significant and worthy of praise.

If you did experience some failures, evaluate them as well. Did you not achieve something due to a lack of genuine intention for it, was it a matter of self discipline? Was it too much to handle on your already full plate? Instead of giving your failures so much power, use it as a jumping off point to determine your wants, needs and current outlooks.

02/ Set Realistic + Intentional Goals

Before you pull out your notebook that you track your goals and intentions in, allow me to note one thing – creating a laundry list of goals to achieve in 30 days is not always beneficial. If you have one goal for the month, that is just as productive as creating a list of 10 goals, most of which will fall by the wayside anyway. It is so important to be realistic.

Align your short and long term goals so that they do not become separate entities. Your short term goals are bricks, and lay the pathway to your long term goals.

03/ Perform A Positive Action

Do something that will really help kick start greater action within you. Don’t wait until the time feels right, because it never will. The best time to act on something you’re really passionate and intentional about is right away.

If your goal is to start a blog, go ahead and write out your first post, and a few ideas for your next posts. If you really want to do well on an upcoming exam, start outlining a plan of attack for studying and prep work.

Don’t allow yourself to take comfort in being idle, because once you’re comfortable being still, it’s so hard to motivate yourself to take action.

How do you welcome in a new month?
