Behind the BrandEver since I launched E&M earlier this month, I’ve had such an easiness and an unexplainable joy about this new brand. It feels so true to me, and my values, in a way that nothing I’ve created online ever has. I feel completely unrestricted and free to create my own way.

When I first started putting together brand boards and writing up a vision for Ember & March, summing up what this blog would be about, creating a tagline, did not happen right away. In fact, it was the very last thing that came about, and the one piece of this brand’s puzzle that required the least amount of thought.

Well lived. Well Designed. It was that simple.

But, what does it mean?

I don’t think that the messaging in the tagline is too cryptic or hard to understand, but I hate to assume. So today, I thought it would be worthwhile to break down exactly what it means. The foundation of everything that Ember & March is and will grow to be.

Well lived…

Wellness and wellbeing are incredibly important topics to me. I stress them because, when things are going full throttle, they are the first things that I cast aside. Skipping breakfast to work on writing, editing or studying. Stay up late, and missing crucial sleep hours, to schedule posts or return emails. I do these things all the time, but have also found ways to make wellness, actually paying attention to it without cutting corners, an integrated part of my everyday routines. So It was important to me that my blog reflect that, while you’re out and about crossing items off of your to-do lists and setting goals like a pro, your physical, mental and spiritual health shouldn’t be neglected.

To cover living life well, I’ve included categories on organization and goal setting. I’ve thought up some great posts to build on a need for wellness in this community. Posts like 14 Wellness Reminders, and listening to your quiet as well as guest posts on going green without going nuts are all small posts to help you make big-impacting choices.

Well Designed…

It didn’t stop at wellness for me. Because my life is so consumed and inspired by life online: blogging, branding, social media and marketing, I knew that it would also be an integral part of E&M.

The well designed portion of the tagline actually has less to do with design and more to do with intention. Creating things that look good to you, and that you can be proud to share and display.

If you’re building a brand: build a solid one. If you’re going to blog, don’t make it harder on yourself. And if you want to learn how to be a designer, artist, developer or anything else, do it with your whole heart or nothing at all. Set big goals and accomplish them, be productive and proactive with your time.

A life well designed is a life crafted on purpose, with purpose by doing the best you can however you can to make things happen for yourself.

That’s what Ember & March is –the merging of these two concepts. Of having a life that is good on the outside and inside. On living out your Personal Legend (any Alchemist fans out there?) and finding the thing that makes you happy to wake up each morning.

I’d love for you to share your brand story with me –what does it mean, what are you and your brand here to add? Shout it out in the comments, or drop me an email!

    1. You know I’m a huge fan of your blog too, Yetti! Loving the content you’ve been putting out there lately especially. Uncensored truth for real!

  1. I absolutely LOVE this post. I think design is so important to me because I live it. I purposefully live a well-designed life and I strive to be well-lived. I enjoy surrounding myself with beautiful, meaningful things and people with beautiful souls. It’s made such a big difference in my life and it’s help me stay positive.

    1. I can only imagine how large a part design plays into your life since it is your profession! I couldn’t agree more about surrounding yourself with positive things and people to encourage a life well lived 🙂

  2. Great post! I think it’s really important to step back and take a look at the big picture like this every once in a while, it’s easy to lose perspective when focusing on all of the day-to-day details.

    1. Writing this definitely helped me fall in love with my brand, this blog and its purpose all over again. You’re right, it’s so easy to lose perspective when you’re just going through your daily routines.

  3. Amazing post! I totally get it! Since launching VIDALUXE, I’m so excited to create and grow and I have so many new ideas written down in my notebook that I truly feel are not only an extension of the brand, but an extension that makes complete sense. I don’t think I would have been able to get there without the rebrand. While VIDALUXE is a way for me to offer my services, if that went away, I’d still blog because it allows me to create, produce content and stretch myself. I’m so excited to meet new people, make friends and potentially pursue some collaborations. I wholeheartedly believe in pursuing your passions and creating your life, whatever that means for each person. That’s what VIDALUXE is to me and I hope it inspires others to pursue that thing that means the same for them. I have loved visiting your blog since I discovered And Yes To Joy and I love visiting even more since you’ve launched Ember & March. Your excitement and passion for this brand is totally shining through in the content you’re producing.

    1. Thanks so much for this incredibly sincere comment! I think the passion and excitement that you have for your brand is shining through just as brightly 🙂

It’s fun to get an inside look into what you see behind your brand. I definitely am loving your content and I think I’ve read just about every post on here because it’s all so rich with meaning. Cheers!

    1. Aw Kayla you have no idea how much this comment means to me! Thank you so much! I can’t wait to see all of the amazing things you’re going to do with your freshly rebranded blog.

  5. I love all of this. I did a rebrand then kinda fell off the blogging world. I need to get back on the wagon.

  6. I love this! I’ve been really honing in on my brand lately and really refining what it means to me. I may just write a post inspired by you soon on this very topic! 😉
