Between birthdays, the rebrand and work commitments, I definitely didn’t read as much as I wanted to this month.

I still finished the month strong with five books finished, but I started so many others that I didn’t have time to finish. Hopefully, April will include less stress time (and time spent on the go in Ubers) and more time curled up with good reads.

Landline by Rainbow Rowell

I hadn’t read a Rainbow Rowell book since reading Eleanor and Park years ago which is one of my favorite books of all time. So I finally decided to pick up one of her adult novels and started here. Landline was a perfect book to start the month with, filled with flawed and relatable characters who you love but hate sometimes.

Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo

I decided to start this trilogy because of all of the good things I’ve heard about the author and her other titles. I’m SO glad I did! It’s definitely different from any other fantasy I’ve read but the characters are so lovable and you can’t help but connect to their stories.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K. Rowling

Still pushing through my reread of the series and it’s only getting better!

Caraval by Stephanie Garber

I thought I was going to love this book way more than I did. I enjoyed the story and the concept, but the writing and world building fell a little short for me. This is going to become a series and as of now, I don’t think I’ll be continuing it.

Exit West by Mohsin Hami

I sat on my couch in comfy clothes and read this book in one day during the snow storm. It was the perfect book to get me through the day! The romance is complex and real and the refugee story is certainly timely at the moment. Highly recommend this book!

What books did you read last month? I definitely started more books than made this list, so my goal for April is to finish all those books on my currently reading shelf.

As always, you can follow me on Goodreads to check on what I’m reading, want to read or wrapping up before it hits the blog.

  1. “Exit West” is on my list, & I’m adding that Rainbow Rowell book to it, too. I’ve never read anything by her but have heard good things!

    1. I want to read everything Rainbow Rowell has written! She’s really one of my favorites, her characters are always wonderful. Hope you enjoy Exit West!

  2. March was a slow reading month for me as well. I only read two books, one of which I could have enjoyed more, and the other one which was a solid, enjoyable, fast read (Startup by Doree Shafrir). I just finished a book a few days ago called The Reminders by Val Emmich and I LOVED it. I think it might be one of my favourite reads of 2017, and definitely my favourite so far. // I read Landline a few years ago! 3. Shadow and Bone was such a good book! I haven’t read further than that, but I’m hoping to finish the trilogy soon and move on to Six of Crows/Crooked Kingdom. I have heard zero bad things about those two, which is saying a lot!

I didn’t know Caraval was going to be a series … I have the first book but I want to read The Night Circus (by Erin Morgenstern) first, since it’s been compared numerous times. I’m in the middle of it right now (about 100 pages in) and it’s a little slow, but the writing is so atmospheric.

I just finished Noteworthy by Riley Redgate, which is coming out next week, and it was SUCH a good book about a cappella and friendship. And I’m hoping to start Paper Girls and The Hate U Give this weekend!
